Series A: Speed Limits (Snelheid)

  • Sign A1 (Red circle with number): Maximum statutory speed limit in km/h. Applies from the sign up to the next intersection or an end sign (A2).
  • Zone Sign A1 (Zone 30 / Zone 60): Applies to an entire residential area until sign A2-zone.
  • Sign A4 (Blue square with number): Advisory speed (Adviessnelheid). Exceeding it is not an automatic speeding fine, but if an accident occurs, you may be held liable under Article 5 WVW.

Series B: Priority Signs (Voorrang)

  • Sign B1 (Yellow diamond with white rim): Priority road (Voorrangsweg). You have priority over traffic approaching from all side streets until Sign B2. Outside built-up areas, parking on the carriageway of a B1 road is forbidden.
  • Sign B3 / B4 / B5: Priority intersection ahead (Voorrangskruispunt). You have priority at that single upcoming junction only.
  • Sign B6 (Inverted triangle): Give way to drivers on the crossing road.
  • Sign B7 (Red Octagon STOP): Mandatory stop at stop line.
