Dashboard Symbols & Warning Lights (Red vs Amber)
Dashboard Warning Light Color Hierarchy
Dashboard warning lights follow universal color standards tested on the CBR exam:

|---|---|---|---|
| RED | CRITICAL | Stop immediately in a safe place (hard shoulder or parking lot). Do not continue driving. | Oil pressure warning (oil can), Brake system failure (!), Engine coolant overheating (thermometer in water), Battery charging circuit fault. |
| AMBER / YELLOW | CAUTION / FAULT | Continue driving with caution. Have the vehicle inspected at a garage promptly. | Engine management malfunction (amber motor symbol), ABS fault, Tyre pressure loss (TPMS), ESP traction control active. |
| BLUE | INFORMATIONAL | High beam headlights active. Switch off when approaching other drivers! | Blue headlight symbol. |
| GREEN | OPERATIONAL | System active and normal. | Dipped headlights, cruise control active. |
Essential Statutory Rules (RVV 1990)
- RED warning lights indicate critical danger to safety or vehicle destruction: stop immediately as soon as safely possible.
- AMBER / YELLOW warning lights indicate a system fault or non-critical issue: drive cautiously to nearest service garage.
- BLUE warning light: indicates high beam headlights (groot licht) are active.
- GREEN warning light: normal operation of indicators or dipped headlights.
